KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — A driver left the scene of his own accident on Ranch Road early Monday morning, October 13, 2014 — and left behind the vehicle.
The accident occurred some time before 1:50 a.m. Monday which is the time the Forney Fire Department was dispatched to the accident. A Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office deputy arrived on scene, checked the car, and disregarded the fire department and EMS after discovering the car was empty.
The silver Kia passenger car was traveling northbound on Ranch Road just north of the city limits of Forney when it veered off the road and struck a driveway culvert which caused major front-end damage and the disablement of the vehicle. The vehicle was hauled from the scene by a wrecker.
The registered owner of the vehicle lives approximately four miles from the accident scene. Approximately 30 minutes after the deputy discovered the accident, an East Texas Medical Center ambulance was dispatched to the home of the registered owner for an injured male seeking medical attention.
A second person may have also been inside the vehicle, according to police. No further information was available concerning the driver of the vehicle.
