Driver leaves scene of rollover crash

FORNEY, Texas — Emergency responders rushed to the scene of a rollover crash only to arrive to an empty vehicle.

FORNEY, Texas — Emergency responders rushed to the scene of a rollover crash only to arrive to an empty vehicle.

The crash, reported at 8:22 p.m., was located on Helms Trail in between Farm-to-Market (FM) 1641 and Interstate 20, just south of Woodbridge Drive. An SUV had overturned, crashed through a barbed-wire fence and trees, and came to a rest on its wheels in a pasture.

A witness reported seeing the driver being picked up by another vehicle and leaving the scene. Its unknown why the driver left the scene. The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating the crash.

The Forney Fire Department, Forney Police Department, CareFlite, Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office, and the Texas Department of Public Safety responded to the crash.
