TERRELL, Texas — A woman was taken by a CareFlite medical helicopter after crashing her car into several vehicles and into a house in Terrell on Wednesday night.
The crash occurred at approximately 8 p.m. in the 300 block of Walnut Street near its intersection with Poetry Road, also known as Farm-to-Market (FM) 986, and West State Street. The driver was traveling southbound on Poetry Road and continued onto Walnut Street where it struck a curb, went through a front yard, overturned, and crashed into several parked vehicles and into a house.
The woman, identified as 22-year-old Michelle Pheng of Mesquite, Texas, was trapped and unconscious when first responders arrived, according to Terrell Police Department Captain A.D. Sansom. "It appeared that the Honda had been traveling at an unsafe speed and lost control at the intersection of FM 986 and Walnut."
A landing zone was established at Terrell High School where the woman was taken by a CareFlite ambulance. A CareFlite medical helicopter then transported the woman with non-life threatening injuries to Medical City Hospital in Dallas, Texas.
Skid marks can be seen from Poetry Road onto Walnut Street where impact marks are present on the curb where the woman's vehicle went off the road. The woman’s vehicle came to a rest on its roof.
City of Terrell building inspectors were on scene inspecting the damage to the home which was located on the side of the garage.
Three vehicles, including the woman's vehicle, were towed from the scene. A white pickup truck in the neighbor's driveway also sustained major rear-end damage and a vehicle parked inside the garage was damaged, according to police.
No injuries were reported inside the residence. The woman was the only person in her vehicle at the time of the accident.
