Eastbound U.S. Highway 80 closed due to car, grass fire

SUNNYVALE, Texas — Eastbound U.S. Highway 80 is closed near Long Creek Road in Sunnyvale due to a car and grass fire on the shoulder of the highway.

SUNNYVALE, Texas — Eastbound U.S. Highway 80 is closed near Long Creek Road in Sunnyvale due to a car and grass fire on the shoulder of the highway.

The fire was reported at approximately noon on Wednesday. Both highway lanes and the service road were closed while firefighters arrived on scene and extinguished the fire.

Witnesses report as of 12:10 p.m., the fire is extinguished but the highway remains closed. As of 12:15 p.m., firefighters reopened the service road.

The Sunnyvale Fire Department and Dallas County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene.
