KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has extended federal disaster aid to 51 additional Texas counties — including Kaufman County.
KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has extended federal disaster aid to 51 additional Texas counties — including Kaufman County.
“This amendment provides for supplemental funding for infrastructure repairs in the wake of May’s severe storms, tornadoes, straight line winds and flooding,” a statement from FEMA read.
Eligible public entities in Kaufman County will be able to apply for FEMA Public Assistance (PA) for reimbursements for repairs to roads and bridges, water control facilities, city- and county-owned buildings and equipment, utilities, parks and recreational facilities, and other public as well as private facilities.
Under the PA program, the federal government obligates funds to the state for 75-percent of eligible costs and the applicant covers the remaining 25-percent. The state then forwards the federal funds to the eligible local entities.
“FEMA will be contacting us in the days to come about setting up a Kickoff meeting with all public entities in the county that might be applying for Public Assistance,” stated Kaufman County Emergency Management Coordinator Steve Howie who also said additional information about the meetings will be provided when it becomes available.
