KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — The Kaufman County Transportation Plan and U.S. Highway 80 Corridor Study are nearing completion and the firm preparing the plans is holding four final public input meetings in the coming weeks.
“This county-wide plan will be coordinated with locally adopted city plans as well as the plans and programs of adjacent counties and Texas Department of Transportation,” the firm, Freese and Nichols, stated in an earlier release. “The plan will place an emphasis on regional connectivity and will guide the County by identifying the location and type of transportation needs to meet anticipated short and long range growth.”
The U.S. Highway 80 Corridor will study the highway from Dallas County to Van Zandt County.
Both plans will serve as guiding tools for future transportation projects in Kaufman County.
“The plan steering committees, in conjunction with a number of county stakeholders, public agencies, and the planning team, have worked over the past year to develop a transportation plan that not only improves the thoroughfare network, but facilitates and accommodates future growth and development,” stated Freese and Nichols.
The content of each meeting will be identical, according to Freese and Nichols, so attendants will only need to attend one meeting.
