FORNEY, Texas — The Forney Fire Department announced the Firefighter of the Year award and the Volunteer Firefighter of the Year award during their annual Christmas party on Friday, December 12, 2014.
FORNEY, Texas — The Forney Fire Department announced the Firefighter of the Year award and the Volunteer Firefighter of the Year award during their annual Christmas party on Friday, December 12, 2014.
The awards were presented to the firefighter with the most votes cast by fellow firefighters on the Forney Fire Department and Forney Volunteer Fire Department.
The Firefighter of the Year award was presented to Forney Fire Department Fire Marshal John Holcomb.
Mentioning several key arson case arrests, Forney Fire Department Chief Rick Townsend said, “You don’t know how hard this guy works. He comes in early and stays out late.” Holcomb also serves as a volunteer on the Mabank Volunteer Fire Department.
The “overwhelming vote-getter” this year for the Volunteer Firefighter of the Year award was presented to Jesse Tamez.
