FORNEY, Texas — Firefighters from Forney and Terrell extinguished an interior wall fire Friday night.
The Forney Fire Department, along with mutual aid from the Forney Volunteer Fire Department and the Terrell Fire Department, responded to a home in the 10000 block of County Road 213 after the homeowner reported a possible lightning strike and fire at approximately 10:45 p.m.
Upon their arrival, firefighters observed smoke coming from the top of the house. Firefighters located an interior wall fire on the first floor transitioning to the second floor and were able to snuff out the fire with an extinguisher.
Minimal smoke damage was reported inside the home.
The Kaufman County Fire Marshal’s Office will investigate to determine the exact cause of the fire but fire officials on scene Friday night did not suspect anything suspicious.
A CareFlite ambulance also responded on standby. All units cleared the scene just before midnight.
