FORNEY, Texas — Firefighters with the Forney Fire Department extinguished a truck fire and a hay bale fire in separate calls on Sunday, June 28, 2015.
Just before 6 p.m., the firefighters responded to westbound U.S. Highway 80 just east of the East Fork Trinity River for a reported truck on fire. Upon their arrival, firefighters reported a single-cab pickup truck fully engulfed in flames.
The truck reportedly caught fire while traveling on the highway. The driver was able to safely pull to the shoulder of the highway and escape the truck and any injuries.
The Forney Fire Department, Forney Police Department, Dallas County Sheriff’s Office, and the Sunnyvale Fire Department responded to the truck fire.
Just before 9 p.m., the Forney Fire Department responded to a hay bale on fire on Stevens Road, also known as County Road 220, near its intersection with Ridge Hollow Road. The hay bale fire was quickly extinguished and no other property damage was reported.
