Five departments extinguish 30-acre grass fire in Ables Springs

ABLES SPRINGS, Texas — Five fire departments responded to a large grass fire on County Road 356 in the Ables Springs area on Thursday, November 12, 2015.

ABLES SPRINGS, Texas — Five fire departments responded to a large grass fire on County Road 356 in the Ables Springs area on Thursday, November 12, 2015.

Firefighters from the Terrell Volunteer Fire Department, College Mound Volunteer Fire Department, Forney Fire Department, Kaufman Fire Department, and the Wills Point Fire Department responded to the fire which consumed approximately 30 acres of mostly pasture, according to Kaufman County Emergency Management Coordinator Steve Howie.

The fire was reported before 11 a.m. and contained with a perimeter at approximately 1:08 p.m.

The Kaufman County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the fire.
