KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — The National Weather Service (NWS) in Fort Worth, Texas, has issued a Flash Flood Watch for Kaufman County from Tuesday, June 16, 2015, through Thursday, June 18, 2015, in anticipation of heavy rains due to a tropical storm nearing south Texas.
KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — The National Weather Service (NWS) in Fort Worth, Texas, has issued a Flash Flood Watch for Kaufman County from Tuesday, June 16, 2015, through Thursday, June 18, 2015, in anticipation of heavy rains due to a tropical storm nearing south Texas.
“A tropical storm will make landfall on the south Texas coast on Tuesday and move northward through north and central Texas by Thursday evening,” stated the NWS. “Widespread rain and thunderstorms will be capable of producing flash flooding and river flooding.”
The NWS anticipates potential rainfall totals of 2 to 4 four inches through Friday with localized higher amounts possible. At this time, the NWS anticipates the heaviest rainfall will occur along and just east of the Interstate 35 corridor.
Flash flooding, areal flooding and river flooding are possible. There will also be a threat for isolated brief tornadoes with some storms.
