KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — The National Weather Service (NWS) in Fort Worth, Texas, issued a Flash Flood Watch for Kaufman County effective tonight at 6 p.m. until midday Saturday. Potentially severe storms are also possible overnight.
KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — The National Weather Service (NWS) in Fort Worth, Texas, issued a Flash Flood Watch for Kaufman County effective tonight at 6 p.m. until midday Saturday. Potentially severe storms are also possible overnight.
1 to 3 inches of rain is anticipated, with locally higher amounts possible, for the watch area through midday Saturday. Because sold remains saturated throughout Kaufman County due to recent storms, any additional rainfall is expected to cause flash flooding.
“The expected heavy rainfall will only aggravate the ongoing river and lake flooding across the watch area,” stated the NWS which extended the flood warning for the Trinity River in the Rosser, Texas, area until 2 a.m. on June 1, 2015.
Severe thunderstorms are anticipated in Kaufman County overnight beginning later this evening with a line of storms approaching from the northwest.
“All modes of severe weather will be possible, including large hail, damaging winds, and tornadoes,” stated the NWS. “Flash flooding will also be a high end threat due to excessive recent rainfall with any slow-moving storms or training of storms over a particular area.”
