KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — The National Weather Service (NWS) in Fort Worth, Texas, has issued a Flood Watch for parts of North Texas including Kaufman County.
The Flood Watch was issued at 4 p.m. Wednesday and will remain in effect until 6 a.m. on Thursday.
Rainfall amounts of 1 to 1.5 inches are anticipated, according to the NWS. Those totals on already saturated soil will result in rapid runoff that may lead to flooding.
The watch area includes portions of north central and northeast Texas including: Bosque, Collin, Cooke, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Erath, Fannin, Grayson, Hamilton, Hill, Hood, Hunt, Johnson, Kaufman, Navarro, Parker, Rockwall, Somervell, Tarrant, Wise, Delta, Henderson, Hopkins, Lamar, Rains, and Van Zandt.
Through 6 p.m., today, DFW Airport tallied 0.40 inches of rain, according to the NWS which raises the monthly total to 6.99", the 2nd wettest February on record. The total for the winter season (December-February) is the 7th wettest among 120 years of records.
