FM 987 closed Monday night for medical emergency, helicopter landing

POST OAK BEND, Texas — Farm-to-Market (FM) 987 was briefly closed to allow a medical helicopter to land and medivac a patient suffering from an apparent cardiac arrest.

POST OAK BEND, Texas — Farm-to-Market (FM) 987 was briefly closed to allow a medical helicopter to land and medivac a patient suffering from an apparent cardiac arrest.

The Kaufman Fire Department responded to the medical emergency at approximately 11:15 p.m. Monday, February 9, 2015, at a residence in Post Oak Bend near FM 987 and County Road 279. FM 987 was closed to prepare a landing zone for the Air Evac Lifeteam medical helicopter.

FM 987 was reopened at approximately 12:15 a.m. The condition of the individual, who was airlifted to an area hospital, is unknown.

Two East Texas Medical Center ambulances responded to the incident. The Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office and the Texas Department of Public Safety also responded.
