FORNEY, Texas — The Forney Fire Department extinguished a fast-moving brush fire in Windmill Farms on Wednesday afternoon.
The fire was reported at approximately 3:50 p.m. in the wooded creek area west of Irongate Boulevard and north of Clear Springs Drive. Members of the Forney Fire Department, volunteers, and the Crandall Fire Department were dispatched to the fire.
As of 4:45 p.m., the fire had been contained, according to Forney Fire Department Captain Phillip Pyle. Firefighters remain on scene working hot spots and mopping up.
The fire was estimated at two acres in moderate brush and grass. The Kaufman County Fire Marshal’s Office is on scene investigating the cause of the fire.
The Crandall unit was later diverted to a rollover crash on Farm-to-Market (FM) 1641 in Forney’s fire district.
