FORNEY, Texas — The Forney Fire Department extinguished a fast-moving grass fire Sunday night, November 23, 2014.
Firefighters were dispatched to the fire on Farm-to-Market 2932 at approximately 9:30 p.m. The 911 caller stated the fire was threatening a nearby structure so the Terrell Volunteer Fire Department and Forney Volunteer Fire Department were dispatched.
Upon arrival, firefighters were able to get ahead of the fire and prevent any structures from being impacted. The Terrell Volunteer Fire Department was subsequently disregarded.
According to a resident where the fire started, the fire was in a fire pit but strong winds knocked over the pit and caught the grass on fire. The Kaufman County Fire Marshal’s Office was dispatched to investigate the fire.
The fire burned approximately one acre and crossed three property lines. No other damage was reported.
