FORNEY, Texas — The Forney Fire Department extinguished an early morning car fire on I-20 on Friday, November 21, 2014.
The driver of the vehicle involved in the fire reported feeling his feet warm up as he was driving. When he pulled over on eastbound I-20 just before Farm-to-Market (FM) 1641, his vehicle began to catch on fire.
Two Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office patrol vehicles arrived on scene a short time later and reported the vehicle was fully engulfed in flames. The car fire had also begun catching grass on the highway’s shoulder on fire.
The Forney Fire Department arrived and extinguished the fire just before 5 a.m.
The driver was able to safely evacuate the vehicle. No other occupants or injuries were reported.
