FORNEY, Texas — Approximately 600 people attended the Veterans Day Ceremony at the Forney Community Park on Saturday to honor the men and women of the United States Armed Forces.

The Forney Independent School District Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) posted the colors following an invocation by Air Force Veteran Charles Treadway and the North Forney High School Choir sang the National Anthem. Forney ISD Air Force JROTC Cadet Second Lieutenant Christopher Benford led the Pledge of Allegiance.
Visitors heard from guest speakers Forney ISD Air Force JROTC Cadet Captain Sara Tackett, U.S. Army Veteran Jim Holzem, and U.S. Army Veteran Steve Hansen.
Forney High School senior Isaac Pena performed taps, the Forney ISD JROTC held a 13-fold flag folding ceremony, and the Rhea Elementary Honor Choir performed “The Brave” and “On Veterans Day.”
