FORNEY, Texas – A Forney man was killed in an accident Monday morning, September 15, 2014, on East Malloy Bridge Road in Seagoville, Texas.
45-year-old William "Bill" Ryter of Forney, Texas, was traveling southbound in his pickup truck on East Malloy Bridge Road when he crossed the center line of the road and struck a northbound traveling tractor-trailer hauling sand, according to the Seagoville Police Department. Ryter died as a result of the accident.
Accident investigators believe speed and weather played a factor in the accident which was located just north of the East Fork Trinity River north levee on East Malloy Bridge Road at a sharp curve in the road. The accident occurred at approximately 7:55 a.m. as Ryter was driving to his place of employment in Seagoville at the Federal Correctional Institution.
The force of the impact caused the tractor-trailer to overturn and also resulted in a hydraulic fluid line to disconnect and spill hydraulic fluid on the roadway. East Malloy Bridge Road between Forney and Seagoville was closed until approximately 6 p.m. for the accident investigation and HAZMAT cleanup of the hydraulic fluid.
The Seagoville Police Department, fire department, emergency services responded to the accident. The Kaufman County Precinct 2 Constable's Office assisted with traffic control during the road closure.
