FORNEY, Texas — The Forney Police Department is investigating a Saturday night fatal wreck on U.S. Highway 80.
The wreck was reported just before 11 p.m. on Saturday under rainy conditions and involved two vehicles, according to police. Both vehicles were traveling eastbound on U.S. Highway 80 when one vehicle lost control, spun, and struck the Pinson Road bridge pillar.
Kaufman County Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace Judge Johnny Adams pronounced the driver of the vehicle which struck the bridge deceased at the scene, according to police. The driver’s name was not released, pending notification of next of kin which had not yet been made on Saturday night.
The second vehicle sustained minor damage and no injuries were reported from its occupants.
The right lane of the highway was closed for several hours while police conducted a fatal accident investigation. Both eastbound lanes were briefly closed while a wrecker removed the vehicle.
The Forney Fire Department, Forney Police Department, and CareFlite responded to the wreck.
Family and friends have identified the victim as 23-year-old Collin Boswell. A Go Fund Me account was established to raise funds for funeral expenses and, as of Monday night, had raised over $4,000.
A request for additional information has been made with the Forney Police Department. This is a developing story.
