FORNEY, Texas — Forney Police Department Chief Rick Barnes recognized the hard work and dedication of the department’s employees and police officers at their annual Christmas banquet last week and named the department’s Employee of the Year.
Between January and the end of November, Barnes says the department had answered 18,259 calls for service, conducted 6,402 traffic stops, issued 1,905 citations, made 757 arrests, and worked 735 accidents.
In the same time, Barnes says the department has filed 234 Class C misdemeanors, 463 Class B or higher misdemeanors with the Kaufman County District Attorney’s Office. Of the 757 arrests, 235 were for drug related charges, 43 for DWI, 28 for assault, 15 for burglary, and 48 for theft.
“I want to thank everyone who went the extra mile this year,” stated Barnes who named the 2015 Employee of the Year as Stacey Rickman.
“Several people noticed how much [Rickman] took on this past year and how much [Rickman] was willing to help others at any time,” state Barnes.
At the City of Forney awards banquet, several Forney Police Department employees received service awards: Mike Williams received a 25 Year Service Award; Jason “Rocky” Ray received a 20 Year Service Award; Matthew Hutchins received a 15 Year Service Award; Sabrina Dickerson received a 10 Year Service Award; and Mike Byford received a 5 Year Service Award.
Barnes says the department has four employees with over 20 years of service with five sergeants having a combined 53 years of service, and the command staff — consisting of a lieutenant, two captains, and the chief — having 102 years of combined law enforcement experience.
“There is no other city department that can say they have that kind of experience,” stated Barnes. “I’m pretty proud of that.”
