FORNEY, Texas — A Forney Police Department officer was commended by the Forney City Council on Tuesday night during a regularly-scheduled council meeting for an apprehension of two subjects in Terrell, Texas, following an accident and foot pursuit.
FORNEY, Texas — A Forney Police Department officer was commended by the Forney City Council on Tuesday night during a regularly-scheduled council meeting for an apprehension of two subjects in Terrell, Texas, following an accident and foot pursuit.
Officer Shane Ball is being recognized for providing a courtesy transport to an out-of-state motorist who became stranded in Forney following an accident on U.S. Highway 80 near Farm-to-Market (FM) 460 at approximately 1 a.m. on March 14, 2015. Unable to locate a hotel or motel in Forney with a vacancy, Ball transported the motorist to a motel in Terrell, Texas.
When the officer arrived with the motorist, he heard a loud crashed and observed two subjects run from a wrecked pickup truck. Ball pursued both subjects on foot and ultimately apprehending both subjects who were charged in the accident and for public intoxication.
“The reason this is so exceptional is not only because Officer Ball did the job and went above and beyond but he was actually recognized by the Terrell Police Department who made sure our department knew what an exceptional officer we had,” stated Mayor Darren Rozell.
“Shane is no stranger to going above and beyond,” stated Forney Police Department Chief Rick Barnes who pointed out a Life Saving bar on Ball’s uniform which was presented to him by the Forney City Council in 2014.
