FORNEY, Texas – The Forney Rotary club welcomed a wounded war veteran and his family to Forney during their weekly meeting yesterday, July 23, 2014.
Last week, retired Army Sergeant and Purple Heart recipient Justin Lynn, his wife, Gabrielle, and four children were handed the keys to a mortgage-free home in Forney, Texas, through a Military Warriors Support Foundation program and partnership with Wells Fargo.
The Forney Rotary Club presented Sgt. Lynn with a certificate of appreciation for his service and also a free year of Flags over Forney – which places U.S. Flags at residences throughout Forney seven times a year during flag holidays.
Lynn was first deployed to Iraq after September 11, 2001, and suffered from PTSD after his return. Lynn was deployed again in 2006 before being hit by a roadside bomb in Baghdad, Iraq, in 2007 which resulted in the loss of his right leg below his knee.
“We spent a year in a hospital doing rehab down in San Antonio and stayed another three years there before bouncing around the country,” said Lynn. They briefly called Arizona home before moving to Forney, Texas.
“The Forney Rotary Club was privileged to have Justin Lynn and his family as special guests at our Wednesday meeting,” Forney Rotary Club past president Tammy Kelly told inForney.com. “We hope you will join us in welcoming them to our community.”
