GARLAND, Texas β€” A Forney woman was killed and her two children were injured after being struck by a suspected drunk driver on Interstate 635 Saturday morning, police said.

Just after 5 a.m. on Saturday, the Garland Police Department and fire department responded to Interstate 635 near Jupiter for a wrong-way crash. When officers arrived, they discovered a Chevrolet Tahoe had been traveling the wrong way and collided head-on with a Chevrolet HHR.

The Garland Police Department identified the driver of the HHR as 28-year-old Crystal Nuncio of Forney, Texas, who was employed by the Garland Police Department Communications Unit as a dispatcher for the past nine years. Nuncio was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash.

Nuncio’s nine-month-old son and 10-year-old daughter, Ally, were also injured in the crash. Yesterday, Ally was listed in critical life-threatening condition, according to the Garland Police Department. The nine-month-old was listed in stable condition with no apparent life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Tahoe, who was identified as 25-year-old Luis Rangel Rodriguez of Grand Prairie, Texas, was transported to Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas, Texas, where he was listed in critical condition Saturday morning. Police say Rodriguez will be facing one charge of intoxication manslaughter and two counts of intoxication assault.
