There is a chance of thunderstorms late tonight ahead of a cold front, according to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, Texas. Lightning and small hail are the main threats of the storms tonight after 9 p.m. going into the early morning hours of Monday.
A squall line moving east over the region between 4 a.m. and 6 a.m. Monday is expected to bring more severe storms with damaging winds of 60 to 75 miles per hour, large hail, and lightning. Some tornadoes will be possible from Gainesville through the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex eastward overnight.
Flash flooding is also a threat with the overnight storms. Prepare additional time for your morning commute.
The National Weather Service is advising residents in the area to secure outside furniture, decor, and trash cans tonight due to the expected heavy winds.
