As of a 6 p.m. radar outlook, the first round of storms has entered southern portions of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex from the west and is traveling at 30 miles per hour. The first round of storms are expected to bring brief heavy rain and cloud-to-ground lightning. A few storms may become severe producing one-inch hail and wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour.
Another round of storms, which are currently developing over the Texas panhandle, will move southeast tonight and approach North Texas after 10 p.m., according to the NWS.
“These storms will have the potential to produce large hail, damaging winds, and locally heavy rain which could result in flash flooding. A tornado or two cannot be ruled out,” stated the NWS.
The NWS says, “Chances for strong to severe thunderstorms will continue Thursday and again on Friday. The main thunderstorm hazards are expected to be large hail, damaging winds, and frequent lightning. A few tornadoes will be possible each afternoon and evening.”
Currently, Kaufman County is not under any severe thunderstorm warnings or watches. Updated forecast information will be provided here when it becomes available from the NWS.
