KAUFMAN, Texas — A Kaufman area home was destroyed in a fire on Saturday night.
The fire was reported around 9 p.m. Saturday night on County Road 154 south of Kaufman, Texas. Arriving firefighters reported a single-wide mobile home complete engulfed in flames.
The Kaufman Fire Department responded with mutual aid from the Scurry Volunteer Fire Department.
Preliminary investigation indicates the fire possibly began at an electrical heater, according to the Kaufman County Fire Marshal’s Office.
The homeowners weren’t home at the time of the fire which completely destroyed the home.
Several animals may have been injured or killed in the fire, according to fire officials who said they were unable to provide a count due to a large amount of dogs kenneled near the home at the time of the fire. Firefighters were seen combing the home after the fire was extinguished.
The American Red Cross also responded to the home to provide aid to the family.
