KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas (Kaufman County Clerk's Office) — During the 61st Annual Conference on Vital Statistics, the Kaufman County Clerk's office was presented, for the 11th time since 2001, the 2015 Exemplary Five Star Service Award by the Texas Department of Health, State Health Services Vital Statistics Unit.
This award is presented annually for excellence in the area of Vital Registration. The criteria for the award includes timeliness of filing registrations into the state database, extremely low error rate, annual training at conferences, use of the Texas Electronic Registrar (TER) for all birth, death and marriage registrations, and completing an assessment survey.
This year's competition included over 529 local registrars, out of which there were only 26 registrars that met all the exemplary designation criteria and only eleven County Clerk offices were awarded the exemplary status.
The Kaufman County Clerk, Laura Hughes, says that her office is always excited to receive this award and attributes the success to her staff. “Their dedication to doing whatever it takes has helped us obtain the highest standards set by the State and in doing so, we continue to insure the protection and accessibility of the vital county records for all our county residents.”
