KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — The Crandall Fire Department responded to a large, fast-moving brush fire Monday afternoon and requested mutual aid from several surrounding departments.
The fire was reported just before 1 p.m. on Stitzle Road, also known as County Road 263, east of Farm-to-Market (FM) 148. Firefighters from Crandall, Forney, Combine, Kaufman, and Seagoville were called for mutual aid.
The fire burned approximately 20 acres and originated from an individual using a metal grinder near the pasture involved, according to fire officials. The fire crossed several property lines burning trees, old boats, tires, and miscellaneous trash which was in the line of the fire.
No injuries or damages to nearby homes were reported.
The individual who was using the grinder was cited, according to Deputy Fire Marshal Chad Woosley.
