TERRELL, Texas — The Kaufman County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating an overnight residential structure fire just south of Terrell.

TERRELL, Texas — The Kaufman County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating an overnight residential structure fire just south of Terrell.

At approximately 11:30 p.m., on Friday, March 5, 2016, the Terrell Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to a residential structure fire in the 7000 block of Cottonwood Lane, also known as County Road 270, off of Farm-to-Market (FM) 987.

Upon their arrival, firefighters reported a double-wide mobile home was engulfed in flames on the north side of the home. Two-thirds of the home would eventually be completely destroyed by the fire and the remaining one-third suffered heavy smoke and fire damage.

No injuries were reported and investigators are working to determine if anyone was living in the home at the time of the fire.

Fire operations resumed into Saturday morning with firefighters begin to clear the scene shortly after 1:30 a.m.

Mutual aid was requested from the Forney Fire Department and Kaufman Fire Department.
