KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — A northern Kaufman County home was destroyed in a Tuesday morning, November 18, 2014, fire which saw responses from several Kaufman County area fire departments.
KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — A northern Kaufman County home was destroyed in a Tuesday morning, November 18, 2014, fire which saw responses from several Kaufman County area fire departments.
The Terrell Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to the fire located at the intersection of County Road (CR) 323 and CR 324 at approximately 8:45 a.m. and mutual aid was subsequently requested from Able Springs Volunteer Fire Department, the City of Terrell Fire Department, the College Mound Volunteer Fire Department, and the Elmo Volunteer Fire Department. The Red Cross also responded to the fire.
Upon arrival, the home, described as a double-wide mobile home, was fully involved and firefighters were forced to fight the fire defensively. Mid-way through the fire, the west side of the structure collapsed. The majority of the fire was knocked down just before 10 a.m.
Initial 911 caller reports indicated all the occupants were able to exit the home except for some pet(s). The family's small dog was accounted for an okay, according to investigators.
Firefighters remain on scene at 11:03 a.m. on overhaul operations. The Kaufman County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire, which, as of Wednesday afternoon, remains undetermined.
