ELMO, Texas — UPDATE [Nov. 5] — Police released the identities of  two men discovered deceased last week in the Elmo area as 43-year-old Efrain Martinez Jr. of Rosenberg, Texas, and 51-year-old Ricardo Vela of Rio Grande City, Texas.

Kaufman County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Jolie Stewart says the investigation remains ongoing.

ORIGINAL [Nov. 2] — The Kaufman County Sheriff's Office is investigating the "suspicious" deaths of two men who were found deceased early Friday morning near Elmo, a small unincorporated community in Kaufman County.

Around 1:30 a.m., the Kaufman County Sheriff's Office was called to a property in the 10000 block of Farm-to-Market (FM) 2728 where the property owner discovered the bodies of two men.

According to a release from the sheriff's office, both men were acquaintances of the property owner's son.

Investigators say narcotics were discovered at the scene but the exact cause of death is unknown at this time.

Both men have been identified by police but their identities have not been released pending notification of next of kin.
