KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — The Kaufman County Commissioners’ Court unanimously voted to file a civil lawsuit against a man who destroyed a portion of a county road in north eastern Kaufman County.
KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — The Kaufman County Commissioners’ Court unanimously voted to file a civil lawsuit against a man who destroyed a portion of a county road in north eastern Kaufman County.
Commissioners unanimously approved the suit during their Monday, November 24, 2014, meeting with the following motion: “We authorize the District Attorney’s Office to bring suit against Bobby Pannkuk and all related entities concerning damages to Kaufman County Precinct 3 County Road 334.”
Pannkuk owns and operates a gravel pit, Rock Solid Crushed Stone, Inc., which, according to Kaufman County property records, is bisected by County Road 334. The portion of County Road 334 through Pannkuk’s property is no longer there, according to Google satellite images.
Because of the pending suit, county officials could not disclose much information. However, Kaufman County Attorney John Long told inForney.com the damage was done several years ago and over an extended period of time which severely damaged the road and rendered it unusable.
The estimated damage in 2005 was approximately $800,000, according to media reports. The damages sought today are unknown. The county’s lawsuit, once filed, will likely shed more light on the county’s current position.
