KAUFMAN, Texas — Kaufman Independent School District’s J.R. Phillips Elementary is without power Tuesday morning, January 6, 2015, due to an accident involving an 18-wheeler and a power pole.

KAUFMAN, Texas — Kaufman Independent School District’s J.R. Phillips Elementary is without power Tuesday morning, January 6, 2015, due to an accident involving an 18-wheeler and a power pole.

School officials said parents with proper identification may pick up their students between 9:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. at which point the students will be bused to Kaufman High School. Once power is restored, the students will be transported back to Phillips Elementary and resume class.

An 18-wheeler struck a power pole just before 7:30 a.m. Tuesday while students were being dropped off at school. No injuries were reported in that accident but the power pole and utility lines were knocked down and approximately 249 customers were without power in the area, according to Oncor.

Oncor and other service companies are one scene and working to restore services.
