FORNEY, Texas – A 4.330-acre tract of land was conveyed to the City of Forney for the purposes of building a proposed second fire station on the north side of Forney.
The Forney City Council approved a development agreement with Meadow Ridge Farm, LP, during their Tuesday night, September 2, 2014, city council meeting which would convey the land into the city's possession.
Meadow Ridge Farm, LP, owns approximately 663.510 acres north of the Gateway Bridge and east of Farm-to-Market (FM) 548 which is zoned as the Meadow Ridge Farm Planned Development – approved by the council on May 5, 2009. The property being conveyed is adjacent to Reeder Lane just north and west of the Silver Springs senior community.
The City of Forney is projecting the construction cost of the new fire station will fall just under $3 million and will seek certificates of obligation later this year. The station will be approximately 10,800 square feet.
“With the approval of this agreement, we will then begin the process of getting the property platted and making the final transfer from the Meadow Ridge Farm, LP, to the city,” stated Community Development Director Peter Morgan.
