KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — Light snow is possible for Kaufman County as we head into the weekend, according to the latest graphicast from the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, Texas.

A “light dusting” of snow is expected in Kaufman County on Thursday morning but, as temperatures rise above freezing on Thursday afternoon, any snow accumulations will quickly disappear.

On Friday, with colder air in place, Kaufman County can expect anywhere from a trace of snow to one-quarter inch. “High temperatures on Friday in the snow area will be near freezing but these light amounts will likely melt or sublimate from paved surfaces by evening, as we saw earlier this week,” stated the National Weather Service on Wednesday.

On Saturday, the National Weather Service is forecasting chances of fog and drizzle as arctic air moves into the region. If surface temperatures remain below freezing, the fog and drizzle has the potential to create travel hazards due to a light coat of ice on bridges and overpasses.

On Wednesday, the National Weather Service reported snowfall totals in the northwestern portion of the county around one inch with locally higher amounts. A band stretching across the county from Crandall through Terrell reported snowfall totals of two inches and the southeastern portions of the county reported three inches of snow.
