ELMO, Texas — For the past couple of hours, east and westbound traffic on Interstate 20 has been crippled due to a series of wrecks including nearly 20 miles of delays on the westbound side.
ELMO, Texas — For the past couple of hours, east and westbound traffic on Interstate 20 has been crippled due to a series of wrecks including nearly 20 miles of delays on the westbound side.
According to Elmo Volunteer Fire Department Chief Randy Brumbelow, his department has responded to seven wrecks today with five of them being in the past couple of hours.
Just after 6 p.m., the department responded to their latest reported wreck of a vehicle that left the highway and struck a fence on westbound Interstate 20 between mile markers 510 and 512.
A five-vehicle wreck on eastbound Interstate 20 near mile marker 503 had traffic backed up to Spur 557.
The series of wrecks on westbound Interstate 20 extends well into Van Zandt County near Myrtle Springs — approximately 20 miles of delays.
An approaching storm cell will likely hamper the conditions and slow traffic around 7:15 p.m.
