FORNEY, Texas — An 18-wheeler loaded with wine bottles overturned on eastbound U.S. Highway and continues to cause major delays for drivers on Christmas Day.
At approximately 5:45 p.m., the 18-wheeler overturned into a ditch on eastbound U.S. Highway 80 just east of Farm-to-Market (FM) 460. Crews expect to reopen the road by 2 a.m. and have been forced to unload hundreds of wine bottles from the trailer by hand.
The Forney Police Department has the right lane of traffic closed while crews work to remove the 18-wheeler. Drivers should expect intermittent full closures while wreckers and emergency officials are on scene.
The Forney Fire Department and an East Texas Medical Center ambulance also responded to the accident. It is unknown at this time if there were any injuries.
