TERRELL, Texas — One man was arrested and another was transported to a Dallas, Texas, hospital with two gunshot wounds stemming from a Saturday dispute in Terrell.
The Terrell Police Department responded to the 900 block of South Medora Street at approximately 6 p.m. Saturday, January 17, 2015, on reports of a shooting. Police arrived to find 37-year-old Kevin King in the front yard with two gunshot wounds to the back, according to Terrell Police Department Captain A.D. Sansom.
King was transported to Baylor Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. King’s current condition is unknown. While at the scene, police described King as “alert, conscious and talking to police.”
Police say the alleged shooting suspect, 17-year-old Kanadriick Maxie, returned to the scene, which is his home, and was taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Maxie is currently being held at the Terrell Municipal Holding Facility awaiting transfer to the Kaufman County Jail.
The two were involved in an argument over an unpaid debt when Maxie allegedly shot King. Maxie fled the home with his father, another subject, and the weapon prior to returning.
Terrell’s Criminal Investigations Detectives and Forensic Unit were called to the scene to conduct the investigation and collected evidence, according to Sansom.
