TALTY, Texas — A man was injured Friday morning after he jumped from a moving vehicle which was on fire.
TALTY, Texas — A man was injured Friday morning after he jumped from a moving vehicle which was on fire.
At approximately 8:30 a.m., the Forney Fire Department and Crandall Fire Department responded to the area of Farm-to-Market (FM) 2932 near FM 148 for a vehicle fire.
The man reportedly experience a blown tire while exiting Interstate 20 at FM 2932 and Helms Trail but continued to drive on the rim for approximately three miles before the truck caught on fire near FM 148. The man jumped from the moving vehicle which drove into a nearby pasture.
The Crandall Fire Department was first on scene and extinguished the vehicle fire while the Forney Fire Department tended to the man who was later taken to Parkland Memorial Hospital by CareFlite ambulance.
The blown tire was also to blame for a small grass fire on Interstate 20 near the FM 2932 and Helms Trail exit. The Forney Fire Department extinguished this fire.
The Crandall Police Department, Kaufman County Sheriff's Office, and the Texas Department of Public Safety also responded to the scene.
The Kaufman County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the incident.
