KEMP, Texas – One person was transported by an East Texas Medical Center (ETMC) helicopter following a single-vehicle accident on State Loop 346/U.S. Highway 175 Business Loop, also known as Elm Street, in Kemp, Texas.
KEMP, Texas – One person was transported by an East Texas Medical Center (ETMC) helicopter following a single-vehicle accident on State Loop 346/U.S. Highway 175 Business Loop, also known as Elm Street, in Kemp, Texas.
The Kemp Volunteer Fire Department received a call about the accident just before 6 p.m. which was reported in front of the Dairy Queen restaurant in the 1200 block of Elm Street. When firefighters arrived, they discovered a truck had run off the road into a wooded area near a creek just south of the roadway.
Two ETMC ambulances responded to the scene along with multiple Kemp VFD apparatus. An ETMC helicopter was requested after discovering the truck and its driver who sustained major head trauma and other trauma to his extremities.
The fire department temporarily closed Elm Street just east of State Highway 274 for staging and a landing zone for the helicopter.
The driver of the truck was taken by the ETMC helicopter to Parkland Hospital in Dallas, Texas. No other injuries were reported in the accident. The identify of the injured man was not released.
