SEAGOVILLE, Texas – An elderly diabetic Seagoville man reported missing early Wednesday morning has been found safe, according to Seagoville Police Department Sergeant Steve Davis.
SEAGOVILLE, Texas – An elderly diabetic Seagoville man reported missing early Wednesday morning has been found safe, according to Seagoville Police Department Sergeant Steve Davis.
64-year-old Wilford Gallegos was located at a truck stop in Memphis, Texas – 300 miles from home. “He has been located safe and coherent,” stated Davis. “It appears that Mr. Gallegos was attempting to make his way back to his home state of New Mexico.”
Gallegos was reported missing at 1:45 a.m. Wednesday, August 27, 2014, and was last seen at his home in the 700 block of Grandview Avenue in Seagoville, Texas. Gallegos was believed to have left on foot, with limited cash, and without his cellphone or medications.
Thursday morning, a state police helicopter aided in the search for Gallegos – at times flying low and broadcasting Gallegos' description. Police were also handing out missing posters door-to-door.
Family members are on their way to Memphis, which is located in the southeastern portion of the Texas panhandle, to pick up Gallegos and bring him home.
