CRANDALL, Texas — A Crandall area family has been displaced after their home was destroyed in a fire on Monday afternoon.
CRANDALL, Texas — A Crandall area family has been displaced after their home was destroyed in a fire on Monday afternoon.
The fire was reported at approximately 3:30 p.m. in the 8000 block of Colonial Drive which is located just north of U.S. Highway 175 east of Crandall.
The Crandall Fire Department responded to the fire with reports of heavy smoke and fire coming from the garage area of the home.
Mutual aid was requested from Forney, Kaufman, Seagoville, and Combine. Additionally, the Kaufman County Fire Marshal’s Office, the Precinct 4 Constable’s Office, the Crandall Police Department, a CareFlite ambulance, and the Red Cross of Kaufman County responded to the scene.
A portion of the family was home when the fire was first reported. No injuries were reported to any of the family members. Approximately an hour into fighting the fire, firefighters rescued the family’s cat from the home.
As of 5 p.m., firefighters were still fighting the fire at the home.
The Kaufman County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
