KEMP, Texas — A mother of three killed by a wrong-way driver late Saturday night in Kemp is being remembered by family and friends as a beautiful soul with a contagious smile.

At approximately 11:23 p.m., on Saturday, September 13, 2020, the Kemp Police Department received a 911 call about a wrong-way driver traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of U.S. Highway 175, Chief Suzanne Martin tells inForney.com.

Upon arrival of officers in the area, they located a major crash in the 13500 block of U.S. Highway 175. There, the 55-year-old male driver of the wrong-way pickup truck and the 33-year-old female driver of a black SUV were pronounced deceased at the scene by Justice of the Peace Rhitt Jackson.

Authorities later identified the deceased male as Gary L Bogner, of the Wills Point area, and the deceased female as Latasha Leann Sims, of the Gun Barrel City area.

"The Kemp Police Department extends our heartfelt prayers to both families, and ask the families be allowed time to grieve the loss of their loved ones," she stated.

Sims was a wife and mother to three children. Family and friends on social media say she had a beautiful and amazing soul, with a contagious smile, and was a loving and caring wife and mother.

Martin says the crash remains under investigation.
