Multi-vehicle accident involving two big rigs closed U.S. Highway 80, one taken to hospital

FORNEY, Texas — A multi-vehicle accident involving two big rigs and a small passenger vehicle closed eastbound U.S. Highway 80 east of Farm-to-Market (FM) 460 on Tuesday morning, October 21, 2014.

FORNEY, Texas — A multi-vehicle accident involving two big rigs and a small passenger vehicle closed eastbound U.S. Highway 80 east of Farm-to-Market (FM) 460 on Tuesday morning, October 21, 2014.

The accident occurred at approximately 8:45 a.m. on an eastbound U.S. Highway 80 bridge east of FM 460 and resulted in the closure of the highway. The accident involved an 18-wheeler, a box truck, and a passenger vehicle.

The highway was reopened at 9:25 a.m. after the passenger vehicle was removed from the highway by a wrecker.

The driver of the passenger vehicle was taken by an East Texas Medical Center ambulance to Texas Regional Medical Center in Sunnyvale, Texas.

There also appears to be new damage to the guardrail approaching the bridge which was recently repaired by the Texas Department of Transportation following several accidents involving 18-wheelers.

It’s unknown at the time of reporting what caused the accident.
