KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — Firefighters from at least five Kaufman County area fire departments battled a multi-structure fire northeast of Terrell, Texas, for several hours on Tuesday night.
The fire was reported just before 8 p.m. on Farm-to-Market (FM) 429 approximately a mile and a half north of U.S. Highway 80.
According to Assistant Fie Marshal Chad Woosley, the fire impacted at least four structures including a metal structure which may have been occupied as a residential structure, a nearby residential structure, and small wooden structure.
Firefighters from the Terrell Volunteer Fire Department, City of Terrell Fire Department, Elmo Volunteer Fire Department, Able Springs Volunteer Fire Department , and the College Mound Volunteer Fire Department are continued tackling hotspots until approximately midnight. One fire truck remained at the scene overnight on fire watch.
A CareFlite ambulance was requested for standby. At least one firefighter was being treated for dehydration. No other injuries had been reported at the time of this report.
The Kaufman County Fire Marshal’s Office, the Kaufman County Office of Emergency Management, and the American Red Cross of Kaufman County were also at the scene.
