FORNEY, Texas — A candlelight vigil is planned Tuesday night for Crystal Nuncio who was killed by a suspected drunk driver on Saturday.

The vigil will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 19, 2015, at the Spyglass pool which is located at the intersection of Spyglass Drive and Reeder Road in the Windmill Farms neighborhood of Forney, Texas.

Nuncio, who was employed as a Garland Police Department dispatcher, was killed Saturday morning after a suspected drunk driver struck her vehicle head-on while traveling in the wrong direction on Interstate 635 in Garland, Texas. Nuncio’s nine-month-old son, Peyton, and 10-year-old daughter, Ally, were also injured in the crash and expected to fully recover.

Neighbors, friends, and family began hanging light blue, light pink, and gold ribbons throughout the Windmill Farms community on Monday — which represent many things including hope, faith, and 911 emergency dispatchers.

Smith Elementary School, where Ally is a student, had additional grief counselors at their campus on Monday.

“This is a very sad and tragic event and we are all praying for the family and for a healthy and speedy recovery for [Ally],” stated Smith Elementary School Principal Jeff Hutcheson in an email to parents.

Flowers, balloons, and children's toys were left on the Nuncio’s front porch at the Fairview Drive home in Windmill Farms — awaiting Ally and Peyton’s return home.

A YouCaring account has been established by the Garland Police Association for medical and burial expenses for Nuncio's family.
