The accident occurred around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 11, 2015, on one of the U.S. Highway 80 bridges that spans the East Fork Trinity River. The SUV was traveling eastbound, according to police when it lost control, overcorrected, struck the guardrail, and overturned off the bridge.

The SUV went off the bridge in an area over land and came to a rest on its driver’s side. The vehicle’s two occupants were able to exit the vehicle unharmed.

Several agencies responded to the accident including the Forney Police Department, the Forney Fire Department, the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office, the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Kaufman County Precinct 2 Constable’s Office.

A truck went over the bridge guardrail in nearly the exact same spot in December 2014. The driver of that vehicle was transported to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
