KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — A driver of a vehicle involved in an accident with a metal cattle fence on Thursday afternoon was uninjured.
The driver lost control of the vehicle while traveling westbound on University Drive, west of Farm-to-Market 548, and drove through the metal cattle fence, mangling the vehicle. The driver was able to self extricate, did not call 911, and was later picked up by her husband from the scene.
When the Forney Fire Department and an East Texas Medical Center ambulance arrived on scene, the driver had already left. The driver returned to the accident scene while a Kaufman County Sheriff’s deputy was on scene. A Texas Department of Public Safety trooper also arrived to prepare an accident report.
The accident occurred about an hour before emergency personnel received their 911 call and responded to the accident, according to the woman’s husband. They reported not needing medical treatment and would self-transport if needed. “I’m just shook up,” she told the deputy.
The vehicle sustained major front-end, side, and roof damage. The driver and passenger airbags deployed.
