KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — No one was injured Saturday morning when a fire broke out in Heartland, Crandall Volunteer Fire Department (CVFD) Chief Allen Cousins said.
The blaze started around 9:45 a.m. in the 2000 block of Stagecoach Trail.
Cousins said he believes the fire was contained to a front bedroom or office in the house, though until firefighters were able to enter the residence, he wouldn’t know the full extent of the damage.
“It’s pretty bad,” he said, adding there’s likely extensive smoke damage throughout the home. “Maybe a total loss.”
The family who lives in the house wasn’t at home at the time of the blaze.
About 15 firefighters from CVDF, Combine Fire Department, and Forney Fire Department responded to the scene. The Kaufman County Fire Marshall’s office was investigating the cause of the fire.
